I am an Australian. I am fortunate to have access to your website and the information regarding unfolding events in China.
I am emailing information to my friends and colleagues here and in America so that they can be better informed about China and the struggles of the ordinary people (worker, farmer, teacher, father, mother etc). They now have no wish to visit or have any ties with China.
I have had first hand experience with Chinese Internal Affairs Police and ordinary Police. I was in China, not enjoying tourist activities but pursuing resolution of an illegal Civil Court Case, and came into contact with many people from all walks of life and across a broad section of Society. I am aware of the corruption involving officials at all levels. I am painfully aware of the plight of plaintiffs. I have been further enlightened by information on your website regarding Jasmine and the escalating violence against the Chinese people.
I was told by a young Chinese in China that they wanted the current Government out and to “import” a fresh Communist Government. All the people I met were unhappy with the current Government. I was also advised by another who despaired, every day, because they could make no change in China.
I would urge ordinary Chinese not to engage in acts of violence against the Authorities but to demonstrate quietly in very, very large numbers. We should all learn from the events in Tianenman Square.
I said, when I left China last year, “When the 1.3 billion Chinese heartbeats all beat as one there will be change in China”. The people do have the power for change if they can come together through peace and not by aggression. They are more powerful than any force the Chinese Government can muster.
I have many endearing memories of the ordinary Chinese I met. They will be in my heart always. It is unlikely I can return and be safe in China and communication with friends there is difficult. The authorities are expert at intercepting communication between it and the world. It is a shame that Authorities cannot focus their energies on the more pressing needs of their people and work with them to overcome difficulties.
I hope Boxun remains a conduit between the Chinese people and the free World. The attempts by the Chinese Government to silence Boxun is a clear demonstration of their continuing intention to suppress their people and attempt to avoid international criticism.
You may use this email and photograph as you wish.
