President of the US,
Mr Barack Obama
We wish to extend a warm welcome to you on your visit to Australia and wish you every success during this historical visit.
The US is still clearly the leading nation of the world despite the problems generated since 2007 by the economic recession.
It is fortunate that you are still holding a prime position, with the political clout to lead the world to better days, and our hopes are pinned on you to make good use of your power to bring the change in this era that will resonate through our global generations to come.
The change has already started through the Arab Spring and the opportunity exists for democracy to sweep across all dictatorship regime held nations.
Sir in my opinion, the Arab Spring should be better capitalized on, to push forward. In the Far East, a blinkered totalitarian regime, Communist China, is still blocking the advances the world needs. The strangling hold of this regime is their nation's hindrance, and this is affecting us all. It blocks democracy and freedoms for 1.3 billion Chinese, it blocks the way for 6 million Tibetans to achieve freedom from oppression in their own land, it has in a calculating fashion backed the Burmese military Junta to oppress its own people, and it helps North Korea's outmoded dictators to threat the peace and stability of East Asia.
The Cold War finished two decades ago, when the West headed by the US was the victor. The end of the Cold War did not mean the simultaneous end of the ideological antagonism between the East and the West. The West may have too-hastily dropped their guards against their rivals!
When the Chinese Communist Party was seriously isolated internationally after 1989, with a bogged economy, it was President Bush (senior) who gave a helping hand and President Clinton who delinked human rights from economic trade with China. The Chinese Communist Party threw off the yoke of economic sanctions quickly and began to make strategic maneuvers of its own volition. Western capital, integrated with the political power of the Chinese Communist Party, forged the new autocratic empire of China. In our opinion, this is a repetition of the appeasement in the 1930s.
Last October, the whole world witnessed that China and Russia jointly vetoed the UN resolution on Syria. Both China and Russia successfully stemmed the further spreading of the Arab Spring to other Arabic nations. Obviously, they are representing the injustice forces of the world that is unwise for the West to tolerate, and you should not turn a deaf ear and blind eye to this.
As the President of the US, a leading democracy of the world, you have the opportunity, and indeed, the moral obligation to face it and bring about the essential changes you so articulately described in your presidential election campaign, “Yes, We Can”. Now is the time for you to demonstrate your courage and wisdom to the world, to demonstrate the leadership of the US to the Western democracies.
Unconditional engagement of Communist China is a huge strategic mistake which has been in place since the Nixon administration onwards. It gives a silent but powerful endorsement to the wrong doings of the regime and also enables this unethical monster to accumulate more economic clout, more unreasonable and ambitious, and therefore become more and more difficult to tackle.
We implore you to take the initiative to change the US policy towards Communist China, make clear statements to help to save Tibet, and help liberate the Chinese people and Burmese from the yoke of the Chinese Communist regime.
Communist China is presently facing huge domestic problems, and need increasingly greater internal control to stay in power. Many of the Chinese people desperately need help and influence from the West democracies, but unfortunately, the West seems to be more interested in doing business with this regime. This clearly demonstrates that there are also political wrong doings in the name of self interest on the side of the Western leaders, which are short-sighted and narrow-minded, and ultimately will damage the prosperity of democracy on a global scale. We cherish a hope you are not one of them.
No Kremlin experts foresaw the collapse of the Soviet Union. A historic lesson for all.
Contemporary China is overrun by serious issues and events. China is facing a serious crisis, with increasing natural and man-made disasters, the most heavily polluted environment in the world, and the failure of social morality. China is like a high pressure cooker without a safety valve, rendering it likely to explode at any time. This crisis could be both a curse and a blessing, with the chronic exploitation of the people and environment spawning the pivotal turning point for a political change in China.
The Chinese Communist Party is covertly catching up with the US’s political, economic and military prowess. We strongly believe that the US needs to re-evaluate and review its China policy which has prevailed for the past 40 years without moving China any nearer to democracy. We expect to see the US demonstrate its leadership with leaders who have the wisdom, who have the foresight, who have the courage to lead this world to its new destiny at this crucial juncture.
To bring political change to China could free the Chinese people, Tibetans, Burmese and the people in North Korea. It could bring more stability to Taiwan, the China Sea, and all nations involved in the dispute, and all nations downstream of the major headwaters of the Asian river systems. It could help to build the ability of the Commonwealth Independence States to develop democracy, and thus have a stabilizing effect on Middle Asia and the Middle East.
Your hands are at the helm steering the voyage of the whole world and we pin our hopes on your willingness and ability to bring about the essential changes in policy which could tame the megalomaniac dictatorship and bring liberation, development and stability for so many throughout the world.
